Independence
Today it is independence day in Peru. I know this because a flag is currently being hung over my head, and there are even more rainbows around than usual. The regional flag for this part of the country looks exactly like the gay pride flag, only with seven colours instead of six. This can be quite confusing upon arrival.
I have had a fantastic adventure these past few days, involving hours and hours and hours of travel on boats and buses, and a very friendly tapier named Pauncho.
Two nights ago I was lying under a mosquito net (with holes in it) listening to ¨jungle noises¨so loud and otherworldly I felt I had stumbled back into my favourite computer game as a child-- The Amazon Trail. I do realize this is along the same lines as life imitating art, (vice versa?), but right now it just doesn´t matter.
I have also made some excellent friends. One of whom is waiting for the computer behind me. News on all of this (and more- getting behind!) to follow. What is happening with the rest of the world I wonder?
N.
